Happy Jesus on a stick day!

"Happy Jesus on a stick Day!"

This was what greeted me on Facebook last Easter from several of my non-believing friends.

I know they meant it to be funny, ironic, cynical, and all that but daggum, ouch!

Aside from the fact that it wasn't entirely chronologically accurate (Jesus was crucified on Good Friday, not Easter Sunday) it was just downright hurtful.  It would be almost the same as me coming up to you and being like "Hey, remember when your Grandfather passed away and was in so much pain on his death bed?  Wasn't that hysterical?"  You would probably unfriend me virtually and in real life pretty quick.

You see, Jesus is my friend.  He's my savior, He's who I come to with my problems and my pain, He's who I come to with my thanksgiving and my joy.  He's my example for what I should be when walking this earth until I'm called home to Heaven   I fall short many, many, many times but when I repent and turn back to him I know that he will always be there to pick me up, dust me off, and help me back onto the path he has set before me.

I follow Him and His word not to win his favor or earn my way into Heaven (like I could!) but because I already have through God's love and the work of the cross and placing my eternal trust in Him.

Today is Good Friday.  Today all those many years ago, He breathed His last breath and proclaimed "It is finished!"  Today his followers were scared and alone, but take heart brethren Sunday is coming and death has lost it's sting!

"Jesus paid it all!  All to Him I owe!
Sin that left a crimson stain, He washed it white as Snow!"

A little bit crunchy, a little bit evil consumer . . .

Greetings, salutations, and all that jazz.

Yesterday Josephine and I went to Ye Olde Health food store.

"Jen, were you baby wearing while going into this fine establishment?"

Why yes I was.  Thanks for noticing my awesome AP-ness. (Don't worry I used an evil stroller at the evil mall beforehand, gotta keep things humble.)

Anyhoo I was going in because they were having a fabulous sale (40% off highest item and 25% off the rest of your stuff!) and also because I was out of my Probiotics.  We gotta keep the gut healthy up in this piece and keep things nice and regular.  Was that TMI?  Whatever, you know you've got the same issues!

Out of the corner of my eye on the way to the refrigerated section (of course my Probiotics are refridgerated!  Aren't yours?)  I noticed the wall of virtuous condiments and that is when I saw this:

That's right people, powdered peanut butter.  It's like astronaut ice-cream only peanut butter.  Of course I had to buy it! (Of course when my husband got home he looked in the pantry saw it, looked at me with his long suffering look and said "What the hell is this?"  to which I replied "Powdered peanut butter." "I don't even want to know.")

So this morning I whipped out my jar of powdered peanut butter (only 1.5 grams of fat!) and reconstituted it with Hillsborough county's finest water and then made myself a peanut and banana sandwich.

Then the heavens  parted, angels sang, and momma was happy!  A peanut butter and banana sandwich that was only 4 WW pts that actually tasted good.

I've since read that lots of folks like to add this to their smoothies for extra protein and whatnot.  Sounds like a plan to me!

Take that  Jiff!

Where you been at?

Heh.

So yeah, it's been a year.

I'm not dead as many of you know, I'm just lazy.  Not really pressing toward those goals eh?

Anyhoo, been raising the kid, running the Sushi Bar, digging through past hurts, hang-ups, and habits (What up CR?!!), and just generally living life.

However today, I feel the itch.   You know that itch, the itch to create.  The itch to connect.  The itch to make a few cave drawings on this vast expanse known as the internet.  While it's no Lascaux, it'll do.

Side note: Were the caves of Lascaux early man's crappy first drafts?  Discuss.

So there you go, I'm back.
